Millie A. Kennedy, Raven Clan, is a member of the Tsimshean Tribe. She is the Statewide Native American Advocacy Coordinator for the Northwest Justice Project (NJP). She coordinates a Native American Task Force comprised of the NJP Attorneys and the statewide Alliance for Equal Justice Partners. The task force works on Native American initiatives to promote access to justice to low income Native Americans and Elders in Washington. Task Force initiatives include improving statewide civil legal aid services, providing outreach to Native American people, and providing training to NJP attorneys and Alliance partners on Indian law and tribal court practice. Millie’s office is located at NJP’s Native American Unit in Seattle, Washington.
Previously, Millie worked as a Reservation Attorney for the Tulalip Tribes and an Attorney Advisor for the Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor’s Division of Indian Affairs. She received her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School in 2001. Before entering the legal profession, Millie worked in Indian Country for several years. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, cum laude, from Seattle University in 1992. |
